Class 4 - Year 5 & 6

Mr. Stainton and Mr Gaye welcome you all to Class 4. This is the final stage of your child’s journey through primary as they prepare for the transition to secondary school and beyond. A big part of the focus over the course of the two years spent in class 4 is working towards the SATS. Our program encourages the child to challenge themselves with this goal in mind. Although this is a big part of Class 4 it is not the whole and every effort is made to provide a broad and exciting curriculum (See our curriculum chart below).
Here you will find helpful information concerning the curriculum that will be taught, homework and other useful information.
Homework is given out each Friday. This normally involves a grammar or punctuation task (via Google Classroom) and a maths task. The maths task is given via Maths.co.uk and your child will have been given access to it which can be completed online. We ask that their homework be completed by the following Wednesday.
P.E. occurs regularly on Thursday afternoons. We ask that children come to school in their PE kit (White t-shirt, black shorts/joggers, black jumper/hoodie and black trainers or pumps).

Online Library for lots of reading opportunities.
Staffordshire Library not only offer books from traditional libraries but they now offer online services including eBooks, audiobooks and comics. This is a free resource that only requires you to join and then use your membership number and pin to log into various apps (see below).
You can then download from apps like Borrowbox and Libby which are available on the apple store and the Google play store.
Maths - Children will be able to access using login. https://www.maths.co.uk/ .
This website not only has tasks set by the teacher but also children can practice any maths topic they wish. Lessons are also accessible which is great to help if you get stuck.
